FAQ

Frequently asked questions
How do you decide which projects are a good fit for you and your firm?

When we consult with a potential project, several factors help to determine if it will be a good fit for me and my team. The most important factor is whether or not it is a good personality fit. Projects go on for months and, in some cases, years, so we want to ensure that the partnership is respectful and enjoyable for both parties.

Do you welcome client involvement or do you prefer clients to be hands-off?

While I welcome input from my clients and ultimately want them to love everything I select for them, if I find that someone has trouble trusting the process, it can really complicate things. Clients who have trouble making decisions or are unwilling to trust and commit to the decisions they have hired the designer to make, will ultimately cause costly delays and will hinder the designer creatively. As a client, you should know how you like to work and how much involvement you expect from the start.

What elements define your style? Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration in nature. I love natural colors and natural fibers. I also love to bring in the unexpected once in a while. There are times I look to movies, fashion runways, and magazines for inspiration for those splashes of textures or fun colors.

What is a typical project like?

Once a project begins, you will be in constant communication with us. We do a lot of work by email and phone since it is an incredibly efficient form of communication, and allows quicker turn-around time. Typically, we send project plans, product selections, and bounce ideas off of each other by email. We will also have periodic conference calls. Often times, about once or twice during a project, a designer will come to your project site and review the project. It is amazing how much can be accomplished in an hour on-site meeting.

Can you help me pick paint colors and nothing else?

Yes, we can!

We believe that wall color (and lighting) is one of the most important aspects of a beautiful space; however, picking paint colors is a task that is more difficult than many would like to admit. During the paint selection process, a designer from our team will arrive at your home for an intense paint selection session that typically lasts 1 – 2 hours.  At the end of the meeting, you will have a list of all of the paint colors, sheen, and surfaces that we think would look great in your home. We work with all of the major brands of paints, so you can either hire a painter to perform the actual painting, or roll up your sleeves and do it yourself.
